Ryan Brown joins as Vice President of Human Resources and Casey Butler joins as General Counsel, bolstering the company’s people and legal leadership as SunEnergy1 continues its growth across North Carolina, Ohio, and Arkansas.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SunEnergy1, a leading solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm, today announced the addition of two experienced leaders to its executive team: Ryan Brown as Vice President of Human Resources and Casey Butler as General Counsel. Both appointments reflect SunEnergy1’s continued investment in the people, processes, and legal infrastructure needed to support its growing portfolio of utility-scale solar projects.

“As SunEnergy1 continues to scale across new markets and larger, more complex projects, having the right leadership in place across HR and legal is essential,” said a SunEnergy1 Chief Operating Officer, Larry Ostema. “Ryan and Casey bring deep, directly relevant experience in the EPC and energy sectors, and we’re confident their leadership will strengthen our ability to attract top talent and manage risk as we grow.”

Ryan Brown, Vice President of Human Resources

Brown brings more than 20 years of Human Resources leadership experience to SunEnergy1, with a career built around large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) organizations. He most recently served as Director of Human Resources at EnergySolutions, where he led talent acquisition, international mobility, university relations, and immigration functions while serving as HR business lead for the company’s Decommissioning and Decontamination business line. Earlier in his career, Brown held recruiting and staffing leadership roles at Westinghouse Electric Company, CB&I, and The Shaw Group, where he built and scaled recruiting operations supporting multi-billion-dollar EPC projects and contract staffing programs. At SunEnergy1, Brown will lead the company’s HR strategy, including workforce planning and talent acquisition across its multi-state project operations.

Casey Butler, General Counsel

Butler joins SunEnergy1 as General Counsel with an extensive background in renewable energy and energy storage transactional law. He previously practiced as an Attorney focused on renewable energy at Litwin Kach LLP, where he negotiated EPC, supply, and project agreements for solar, wind, and energy storage projects with counterparties including NextEra, Fluence, and S&C Electric. Butler also served as General Counsel and Director of Operations at LS Energy Solutions and as Global Compliance Manager at Praxair, where he managed legal compliance programs across dozens of international facilities. He is also the CEO and co-founder of GrantScribe. At SunEnergy1, Butler will lead the company’s legal function, supporting contract negotiation, compliance, and risk management across its project portfolio.

Both Brown and Butler are based in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and join SunEnergy1’s leadership team as the company continues to expand its utility-scale solar development, engineering, and construction operations.
