SunEnergy1 is seeking a General Legal Counsel to lead all solar energy transactions related to land acquisition, permitting, design, engineering, construction, operations, maintenance and any arrangements associated with the development of solar energy and infrastructure projects. 


  • Act as lead counsel on all transactions

  • Perform all due diligence to include gathering, reviewing and summarizing information and agreements, preparing and populating virtual data rooms, preparing schedules to agreements and responding to counterparty inquiries

  • Draft all closing documents such as officer’s certificates for financing

  • Interact with various internal business partners and any outside counsel as required throughout the transaction to assist in managing the transaction

  • Coordinate deliverables for closing and manage any post-closing matters

  • Develop and maintain procedures for contractual, regulatory and legislative compliance tracking and monitoring

  • Draft all necessary company and regulatory documents

  • Play a central role in the improvement of business processes

  • Other tasks as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • JD required

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of energy transaction experience in a fast-paced, dynamic law firm or in-house environment

  • Demonstrated experience managing transactions from initiation through closing

  • Excellent knowledge of corporate and commercial law

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-starter who can work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision or guidance

  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks and meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a communicative team-based environment

  • Demonstrated comfort level with ambiguity

  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills

  • Agile, resourceful, innovative and results focused
