ELIZABETH CITY, N.C., December 14, 2015 – On Wed., Dec. 16, Kenny Habul and SunEnergy1 are partnering with Feed the Children to provide 400 Elizabeth City-area families with food and essentials. The distribution will take place at 109 Tidewater Way from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Because hunger cannot be defeated alone, Feed the Children’s partner agency, Albermarle Food Pantry, has pre-identified the families who will each receive a 25-pound box of food; a 10-pound box of much-needed essentials like shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and personal-care items; and a box of assorted Avon products.
This event is one of many that Feed the Children has planned across the country. In Elizabeth City alone, 29 percent of families live below the poverty line. Often, these children are unsure where they will find their next meal.
This event is made possible by generous volunteers and representatives from each local partner who will help with the distribution.
“I am so excited for SunEnergy1 to have the opportunity to give back to the local community,” said Kenny Habul, CEO of SunEnergy1. “During the Waltrip Brothers Charity Championship Event, I met Feed the Children and learned how they can impact this community. Four hundred families in need will receive food and essential items. We are grateful and thankful to be a part of this event.”
SunEnergy1 decided to join in the effort to help feed families where there is a need. SunEnergy1 will continue to work closely with county and state officials to assist in creating a better environment for children and families to prosper.
“Feed the Children is proud to partner with Kenny Habul and SunEnergy1 today,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children Interim CEO/President and COO. “We know that when we combine our efforts, we will have a greater impact on the lives of families who need us most — right here in America.”
